Meg White and her minimalistic style of drumming with The White Stripes helped pave the way for SO many bands in the lo-fi, minimalistic garage band style. Bands like The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Rival Sons, The Alabama Shakes, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, The Raconteurs, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and so many more.

Her drumming is often criticized for being "simplistic" or "bad". I have a different view though. I believe she played the way she did with The White Stripes for a reason. To achieve that lo-fi garage rock fill out a rock duo with MASSIVE sounding leave room for the song to be seen.

In this lesson I break out 5 of Meg White's drum beats and show you why I think she was sly as a cat in the way she created her parts. There is a beauty in simplicity that so many players miss.

I hope you found this video entertaining and enlightening!!
