Whenever you are studying and practicing something from a book or a video like mine, then the examples of how the topic is applied is most often in the form of jazz licks, short musical phrases that demonstrate how a scale, rhythm or arpeggio sound when used in a solo. You even have books that are only licks and no other information.

How do you study licks? What can you learn and how do you not waste time on them? These are important things to figure out, especially if you are teaching yourself!!
