Learning the Craft of Songwriting

When I decided I wanted to take my songwriting from a means of self-expression to something more structured and serious, I knew that strong action was needed. The best way to learn any craft is to go straight to working professionals and that is exactly what I did.

Enter Brent Baxter. I recently participated in his songwriting course entitled “Song Ideas: From Blank Page to Finished Lyric." After carefully combing through decades of information gleaned from his years as a professional songwriter, Brent boiled it all down into an easy-to-follow outline.

Every week a group of us would connect via Skype where we would stretch our skills and craft of songwriting. All of this was under the watchful eye and masterful guidance of our instructor Brent Baxter.

With his assistance we were able to take song titles and ideas and see them through to completion. Every step of the songwriting process was outlined and delivered in a structured yet creatively flexible method. This type of approach allowed each writer the freedom to individually express their unique songwriting style while using these tools to help focus and clearly communicate those ideas.

No artist wants to feel they are simply filling in the blanks of a “how to write songs” blueprint. With Brent's songwriting workshops, one has an opportunity to dig deeply into each song idea and explore its unlimited possibilities. At the end of the day, it is up to you to choose the path your song takes. Brent provides a road map to get you there.

I invite you to sign up for Brent's next songwriting workshop. It begins on August 1st and it will be one of the best investments you can make toward improving your songwriting.

Here's a little insight into the personal side of Brent Baxter.
